Summer School learns about wind

2012-summer schoolDuring summer school at Cissna Park Elementary School a total of 15 students, ranging in ages from 6 to twelve, were able to learn about wind with a windmill kit that was purchased through the gracious donation of funds from the Education Society.  The windmill kit was used to explore the different uses of wind and other natural resources as energy.  Mr. Walder and I, Mrs. Purdy, differentiated our instruction to teach the varying skill levels about these concepts through cooperative learning where they could explore and learn together.  The students had to work in groups to hypothesize and create windmill blades that would work the most efficiently. We all had fun and learned a great deal through hands-on learning.
