First Graders Try Out Chromebooks

Mrs. Shelisa Henrichs and her first grade class are thankful to the Cissna Park Education Foundation for fulfilling a classroom mini grant this year. With the grant, the class was able to purchase two Chromebooks, cases, and a wireless mouse for each computer.

“Throughout our reading block, students have the opportunity to work on Reading A to Z to help build their reading skills,” said Mrs. Henrichs. “They listen to a story, read the story, and then take a short quiz over the story. We also use them when we take our quarterly assessments.”

Mrs. Henrichs is looking into many other ways to use the Chromebooks in the classroom as well, to get students ready for the older grade levels when they will use them on a daily basis.
